First of all, I expect this letter to be posted on your home page, at least for a little while, instead of being buried in your kudos file. I read your article on the Green Bay show and feel I need to tell "The Rest of the Story". You are waaaaaay to modest. Sara showed her back piece, of the Aurora Borealis and the judges went nuts. She was invited backstage by 2 magazines for photo shoots, had her piece photographed by a European photographer, and received numerous compliments when she returned to the crowd. No award. I showed my Dennis the Menace piece, and again, the judges had a ball with it. I was photographed coming off the stage and was told by my wife that I was the only cartoon to have that honor. Again, no award. After the competition was over, one of the judges ( Jeremy Youngman ) made a special effort to find Sara and talk to her. Sara introduced him to Smooth and Jeremy was almost apologizing for Sara not winning an award. He had very high praise for Smooth's work. Jeremy then turned to me and said "Dennis the Menace; right?" He said he really liked certain details of my piece. Smooth told him the effect we were trying achieve and Jeremy asked, "You did this one too?" Again, nothing but high praise for the work. Jeremy said, if it would have been up to him, I would have won an award also. Smooth, you have told me that the awards are nice, but not important. It's how the customer feels about the piece. Compliments are more important than trophies. Well, I just want your clients, fans, and friends to know the high praise you receive from your peers. Well... Thank you Dennis. Hey Smooth! Smooth, Thank you so very much for the beautiful work you did for us. The professionalism you and your staff display is second only to your God given talents; of which you should be very proud. We show our artwork to everyone we know, and everyone has said how beautiful both works are. Don't be surprised if you see us again, wanting another piece done. If someone had told me a year ago that at age 43 I would get my first tattoo I never would have believed them, but now my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.While those who know me are initially shocked that I have a tattoo, I've gotten nothing but compliments on it and how great it looks.
